The Late Zone

"Are you ready? He is going to be here any minute now. You should not keep him waiting," Kim pesters me.

"I am almost ready. I just need to find my left earring. Have you seen it?" I ask Kim.

"Is that the earring?"

"Where?" I turn around, looking at the spot Kim is pointing at. "Oh, yeah. It is." I bend down to pick up my earring from the floor. "So, how do I look?"

"Good," Kim answers, with a grin.

"Just good? I should have gone with the red dress!" I sulk.

"You look hot. Is that better? You are acting silly. You are going out on your first date with Mark. It is not a date with a wedding proposal."

"What do you mean I am acting silly? You are the one who is more nervous. You are the one who arranges this blind date. For your information, I am not expecting any proposal on a first date. How silly do you think I am?" I whine.

"Fine. I am sorry. You are going to thank me when this date is over. This is going to be the perfect first date. I know Mark is your type of man. He is just right for you," says Kim.

"If he is so right, why don't you go on this blind date?"

"Don't be silly. I know Mark. So, with me, it will not be qualified to be called as a blind date. Moreover, he is right for you. He is not right for me. I have mentioned that before. So, stop asking me that again," Kim explains.

"Are you sure if he is alright? I hope you are not setting me up with a weird guy."

"Stop saying that. You are going to be sorry when you meet Mark. He is perfect." Kim notices my stare. "He is perfect for you. Trust me."

"I know this colleague. He went for this party with his wife. Apparently his best friend introduced him to this party and told him that he and his wife would enjoy the party. He trusted his best friend. Guess what? It was a party for swingers!"

"Jenna, I am not setting you up with any swinger. I promise. I'll even warn Mark not to make any proposal to you when I see him. Will that be better for you? Just go out with him. You'll have fun. Trust me."
