When I was in my twenties I was set up on a blind date. The guy was sweet but not my type. I did not want to try dating sites again thinking I would just end up someones short term fling. I wanted romance and adventure or at the very least a nice dinner and a walk in the park along the river. After a year of not much luck meeting men at parties, campus and tavernsI asked my friends if they knew of any decent eligible bachelors.Friends always come through don't they? I was set up again shortly. My second blind date went very well. We hit it off and dated for nearly six months. It was more than just fling but not enough to make it long term. It ended well and I still have sweet memories of him to this day. Sometimes it takes awhile to find Mr.Right I kept assuring myself. I was reluctant still to give dating sites a go but aren't they just a blind date set up by a computer instead of a friend? I had to muster my courage and told myself that perhaps a fling with a handsome man would be fun and exciting. I tried two different match making dating sites and I did have a couple dates that were complete duds which made me question just how those sites really match people up. We had nothing in common except awkward silence. Not a good pair up at all. I wanted to meet someone who liked books, walks, cooking and sports but who wasn't a fanatic or snobbish about any of them. A handsome man with manners, a kind personality and a sweet smile. I don't believe that is such a tall order but sixteen dates later I am wondering if I am being a bit too picky about what I am looking for. No, I decided I wasn't. Picky and patient paid off as I finally met someone with the qualities I was looking for who was fond of me in return. Six years later we are married and still a good match.
