The Late Zone

It was my sister who first persuaded me to look online for a new man. Two years after my first serious relationship had broken down i was finally ready to find my true love. After a few failed attempts to find Mr right in the local pubs and clubs my sister suggested trying a dating site.

I admit at first I was sceptical, I agreed with her husband that dating sites were for people that were completely desperate but I agreed to give it a try anyway, what did I have to lose? It wasn't as if I had a queue of men waiting to treat me to a candle light supper. I filled in all the required information which meant telling this unseen person everything about myself as well as what I was looking for in a man. I was careful not to mention the words true love or Husband because i didn't want to come across as being too intense. I decided to keep it casual and say i was looking for friendship and companionship, but secretly I was hoping for that special guy that would treat me to that ever illusive candle light supper.

I waited for the responses to my ad to come flooding in but unfortunately I got more like a trickle than a flood and not a very exciting trickle at that. My sister and her husband found it hilarious going through the men that had answered. They were all wrong, either too old, too young, too ugly (I know that's shallow of me but there has to be some level of attraction in a relationship) or they lived in the middle of nowhere, i enjoy a good social life I'm no country girl! It soon became apparent that my true love was not going to come from this experiment on the Internet and i accepted that my much desired candle light supper would have to be enjoyed with a couple of juicy tuna steaks and my ever affectionate and loyal cat, Sydney.

I'm not disheartened by this episode in my life. I gave it a chance and it failed but i remain confident that the right man for me is still out there somewhere. I just wish i knew where to look!
